The announcement was made by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari as part of a broader effort to simplify toll payments and reduce traffic congestion at national highway toll plazas.
This annual pass will offer private vehicle owners the option of paying a one-time fee for unrestricted travel across designated toll roads.
What is the Fastag Annual Pass?
The fastag annual pass is a prepaid toll payment system that allows private vehicle owners to pay a fixed amount annually—set at ₹3,000—to enjoy unlimited access through select toll plazas on national highways. It works in conjunction with the FASTag electronic toll collection system already in use across India.
Once activated, this pass will enable smooth, contactless, and time-saving travel, eliminating the need for frequent FASTag top-ups for daily or long-distance users.
Where Will the Pass Be Applicable?
Initially, the fastag annual pass will be valid on certain stretches of national highways that see high volumes of commuter traffic. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is expected to release a complete list of applicable routes closer to the launch date.
The scheme is targeted particularly at regular highway users such as daily commuters, long-distance travelers, and those residing near inter-city corridors.
